What Did You Expect?: Redeeming the Realities of Marriage.
Bill & Wendy Myers | Lecture Hall
It won’t take long for you to realize that your marriage hasn’t escaped the reality of sin or the brokenness of the world. It’s what you do next that will make all the difference in the world in the character and quality of your marriage. Scripture says that a good marriage is the result of worship. Does this confuse you? Then, this marriage class is for you. The truth presented in these sessions is not always easy to hear but it is profoundly good. This class will be utilizing Paul Tripps dvd series.
Reformed, Presbyterian and Covenantal
James West | Room 211
At Twin Oaks, we are Reformed, we are Presbyterian and we are Covenantal. But, what does that mean? Is Calvinism biblical? Why do we baptize babies? Why do we have Elders? What are Elders, for that matter? What do we believe about the Lord’s Supper? What is this thing called TULIP? Does doctrine really matter? What is the Westminster Confession of Faith? Why is plaid so popular at this church? Whether you are brand new to Twin Oaks and the PCA, or are seventh-generation Presbyterian, this class is for you. Come, learn the rich doctrines we hold and how they are nothing more than what is taught in scripture.
Esther
Pastor Bob Stuart | Fellowship Hall A–C
Perhaps no other book of the Bible has been attacked as vehemently as the Book of Esther. The reason - the absence of God’s name and the spirit of nationalism that is presented! Many critics have declared this book uninspired and, therefore, unworthy of inclusion in the canon of Scripture. Yet, if the reader allows the Spirit of God to lead him through the story of Esther, he will discover the deeper truths of God and see His hand and involvement throughout the narrative. The characters in this book play an integral part in the unfolding of God’s plan for Israel as an elect nation. The twists and turns of the story read like a modern day novel. In this study we will see the hand of God in the affairs of men. History will be seen as “His Story” and the accomplishing of His purposes even though the characters make their own choices. Nothing happens by accident, for God is always in control and will accomplish His will through the lives of men and women, no matter their status or ethnic background.
