Dr. Michael Milton was named President and Professor of Practical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 1, 2007. He previously served as the Senior Pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee. In addition to his pastoral work, Dr. Milton currently holds a commission in the U.S. Army Reserves as a chaplain. He also serves on several boards and is active in a number of civic organizations maintaining a full schedule of preaching and teaching in churches, seminaries and conferences. Often his sermons are illustrated with songs that he writes, sings and performs with his guitar. His recording, He Shall Restore, was released in 2006 under the Music for Missions label and is distributed through iTunes.
Following seminary, he planted two churches: Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas and Kirk O’ the Isles Church in Savannah, Georgia. He founded Westminster Academy Christian School in Overland Park and has served as an adjunct professor at Knox Theological Seminary.
Dr. Milton received his Ph.D at the University of Wales, his M.Div at Knox Theological Seminary, a Diploma at the Defense Language Institute and a B.A at Mid-America Nazarene University.
Prior to Dr. Milton's call to ministry he served for 16 years with Dow Chemical Company and Ashland Chemical Company. He also served as a top secret Navy linguist (Albanian). Dr. Milton, his wife Mae and their son, live in the Charlotte area.
