Pastor Doug Merkey graduated with a degree in Marketing from Penn State University in 1989.  After several years in the corporate world, he obtained his Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary, just East of Maryville. In 1999.        

His awareness of God’s love for all human life – born and unborn – came while in seminary.  Since then, Doug has worked as the college and career pastor and pastor of the Life Team at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church.  He has served on the board of Thrive, St. Louis, a local organization that helps men and women in crisis pregnancies or who are struggling with having chosen abortion. 

In January, 2007, Doug was called by Twin Oaks to launch Churches for Life (www.getintolife.org), and organization whose mission is to nourish churches as gospel-driven champions of life.  Doug counts it his special joy to help Christians see themselves as those who have been rescued by God’s amazing love in Christ, and who respond to that love by living humble, joyful people who likewise look to rescue others.
