Before the 10:10 am service
1. Arrive no later than 8:45 am.
2. Get the large size folded white tablecloth from the choir room located to the right side of the choir robes. Place the unfolded white tablecloth on the communion table platform. It will be used to cover the communion table in the sanctuary prior to placing the trays and plates on the tablecloth. Ensure that two pastor chairs are placed behind and to either side of the communion table for the Senior Pastor and his assistant.
3. Get 24 silver plates, 24 trays (for the communion cup holders), and take them to the upstairs kitchen.
4. First wash hands and as a precaution put on rubber sanitized disposable gloves before any handling of the juice cups or splitting of crackers. Then start by filling each cup with grape juice level with the holder (approximately half full or to the fill marker - see diagrams). There should be 40 empty juice cups per full tray to be filled.
5. Get the silver communion chalice and cup from inside the communion cabinet (the box marked "Communion"). Fill the communion chalice approx. quarter full with grape juice.
6. Place 40 – 45 broken pieces of mahtza bread 0n each plate (Approx. size should be no larger than the size of a quarter with minimal crumbs).
7. Place the plates and trays in the following configuration (see diagrams):
- One stack of 6 plates and trays on the left side of the sanctuary platform (to include 1 plate and tray for singers and musicians to be served) and one stack of 5 plates and trays on the right side of the sanctuary platform.
- Two stacks of 5 plates and trays on the communion table. Put the plates on the outside edge of the table. Put the trays centered in the middle of the table.
- Place a whole piece on mahtza bread (wrapped and covered separately) on the top plate on the right side of the communion table with the plate covered.
- Place the 1/4 filled communion chalice and cup behind the stack of trays with chalice handle facing to the right (in order to be griped by the right hand.
- Place one stack of 3 plates under one of the mirrors in the narthex and one stack of 3 trays under the other mirror in the narthex (see diagrams.)
After the 10:10 am service
1. Retrieve all the plates and trays from the sanctuary and narthex and bring to the upstairs kitchen for final cleanup.
2. Dump the used and unused cups from the trays into the trash and wipe each tray to clean any spilled juice. Refill each tray with 40 empty cups.
3. Dump the unused mahtza bread from each plate. Wipe each plate clean and put them back into their felt bags (4 plates per bag). Fold covers and ensure covers are clean. Collect any stained napkins or tablecloths and place in a bag for laundering. Place the clean plate cover cloths in the bag located in the preparation kitchen cabinet marked for "Communion."
4. Return the plates and trays inside the communion table.
5. Fold and return the communion table cloth to the choir room and hang it on a hanger where previously located.
6. Fold and return communion table cloths from each side of the sanctuary to inside of communion table.
7. Take right side and left side communion platforms and return to left side compartment under platform/piano area (see diagram.)
