Wes and Stephanie Vander Lugt will be serving at Armonia Ministries in Mexico for a 10-month period beginning in August of ‘08. They learned of the Armonia ministry to the poor of Mexico when Saul Cruz, Director of Armonia Ministries, was speaking at the TOPC World Missions Conference in February of ‘07. In April of ‘07, Wes and several members of TOPC’s World Missions Committee traveled to Mexico on a Vision Trip to see firsthand the ministry of Armonia. In July of ‘07, Wes and Stephanie led a short-term team of TOPC youth back to Mexico City. While there, they expressed interest in serving Armonia for a longer period of time; shortly thereafter Saul Cruz offered them an internship. The Vander Lugts will lead one more short-term TOPC youth mission trip to Armonia this summer before beginning their internship. Their activities will include an intensive Spanish language course, developing curriculum for a “transformation” class that Saul teaches, hosting short term missions groups and much more.

Wesley Vander Lugt is a native of central Minnesota. Stephanie grew up in Cameroon, West Africa, the daughter of missionaries Bill and Wendy Myers. Both are graduates of Covenant College where they met. They were married at TOPC in ‘06.

Wes is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Stephanie is scheduled to graduate from the Seminary in May (M.A.). Wes has served in youth ministry at TOPC for the past four years, as a seminary intern and currently as the interim Youth Director very ably assisted by Stephanie in these roles.
