Small Group Guidelines apply during Open Share Groups and Step Study Groups, and are the foundation for creating a safe place for sharing.

Open Share Groups and Step Study Groups are always gender-based and not mixed.

These guidelines are designed to provide a safe and productive meeting for everyone. Please honor these guidelines throughout the meeting.

1. Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts and feelings, and the curriculum questions. Limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes.

2. There will be no “cross talk.” Cross talk takes place when two people engage in conversation or dialogue during the meeting. Each person is free to express their own thoughts and feelings without interruption.

3. We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” one another.

4. Anonymity and Confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.

5. Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group. Offensive language includes graphic descriptions
